Joseph Kapuwa

Joseph Kapuwa works as Barrister and Solicitor at the BMT Law Chambers in Sierra Leone. He was called to the Bar in 2012 by the Council of Legal Education in Sierra Leone. Prior to his practice, he was head of News and Current Affairs at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) where he led in the areas of news gathering and reporting. He served the then Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service (SLBS) as News Editor and News/Program Presenter from 2000 to 2006.

For more than four years Mr. Kapuwa worked at the Public Information Section of the various UN Missions in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL/UNIOSIL/UNIPSIL) where he served as Sierra Leone’s first National Professional Officer (NPO) and Head of News. He holds a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Political Science from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, a post graduate diploma in Mass Communication, Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) from Fourah Bay College, and a professional qualification - Barrister at Law (BL) from the Council of Legal Education of Sierra Leone. Mr. Kapuwa has also received several certificates in various professional studies/trainings at both local and international levels. He is highly experienced in defamation matters, public relations, research, information management and effective communication skills. He contributed to the International Comparative Legal Guide to Construction and Engineering Law 2015 – Sierra Leone.
